About Lorna
“During our sessions we will work together to explore your difficulties in depth, making sense of overwhelming feelings while exploring how repeating patterns of thinking and behaviour could be impacting your life in the present.”
I am an experienced and fully qualified Therapeutic Counsellor based in Bromley, Kent. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). My approach when working with clients is integrative, which broadly means that I draw from a number of therapeutic approaches that I can tailor to each clients’ individual needs. An example would be the benefit of looking at early experiences in order to observe how the past could be impacting your life today.
I offer both long and short-term therapy depending on your needs. There is no specific amount of time to have therapy although I would recommend regular sessions to begin with. Counselling is your choice, you choose when to end the counselling sessions, there are no rules in place for how long you must stay; it depends on you.
I work with individuals and couples alike. I work ethically with clients from all cultures, religious backgrounds and gender presentations, treating each client according to their individual needs.

Experience
I have worked extensively within many different counselling settings, dealing with the challenges that clients can face, including relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem, OCD, trauma and bereavement.
I was fortunate to have bereavement training within a hospice environment. I worked with the bereaved family members of patients who had been treated at St Christopher’s Hospice in South London. As a charity St Christopher’s offered free fixed term counselling to anyone whose loved one had been treated within the hospice.
The hospice also worked in collaboration with Bromley Bereavement Service, offering counselling to bereaved clients from outside the hospice, this enabled anyone experiencing loss and grief through death to access free counselling services.
As part of my work within the Hospice I took part in group therapy for children where I listened to their loss experiences whilst engaging in creative activities.
I have worked within a Secondary school environment at The Ravensbourne School in Bromley, helping pupils aged 11 to 18yrs to express their problems in a safe and confidential space. I found making use of creative tools was very helpful within this role, as young people often struggle to put their feelings into words.
Prior to the School I worked for two years as a Counsellor at Bromley Community Counselling Services (BCCS) a registered charity providing affordable counselling services to clients over 18years in Bromley and the surrounding areas.
My most recent experience has been with Novo Counselling Services in Bromley. This service offered a broad range of counselling services for individuals, couples, and children.
I now work in my own private practice in Bromley. I work with individuals and couples. At the moment I am offering face to face and online therapy.
